“A Way to a New Life”

When Brad arrived at Memphis Union Mission, he had nowhere else to turn.

“I had hit what most people call rock bottom,” Brad admits. “I was living a lie—not just to my family and friends, but to myself. I was trying to fix a huge problem with a temporary solution: drugs and alcohol. And I was having constant seizures. I felt like I had no place or person to turn to.”

After waking up in the ICU following a seizure, Brad cried out in desperation: “I can’t live like this anymore!” It was there, in the hospital, that he was offered a spot at Memphis Union Mission. “I know it was God telling me: this is your way to a new life.”

And here, Brad was able to begin his journey of restoration—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. “What helped me most was God,” he explains. “I was able to rebuild my relationship with Him—something I hadn’t had in over twenty years. But also, it was the people. Everyone here has a story. When you take time to listen, you realize you’re not alone. It changes the way you see others—and yourself.”

Brad reflects on how his perspective shifted, saying, “I used to be quick to judge. But Luke 6:37 reminds me: ‘Do not judge, and you will not be judged… Forgive, and you will be forgiven.’ That’s a verse I hold close now.”

Today, Brad is focused on living one day at a time. He’s working, building new friendships, and looking forward to encouraging others with his testimony. “I want people to know that Memphis Union Mission saves lives. It saved mine.”

And he’s deeply grateful. “I thank God every day for the Mission, for the volunteers, and for everyone who donates,” he says. “Your gifts—whether it’s your time, your resources, or your prayers—they truly make a difference. I’m living proof.”

Because of your generosity, Brad found more than meals and shelter—he discovered hope, healing, and a restored relationship with God. Thank you for helping transform lives at Memphis Union Mission, where every meal, every bed, and every act of compassion is a step toward lasting life transformation through Christ.
