The testimony of a courageous, God-fearing woman
Clarice grew up with everything stacked against her. Her parents left her at age 13, and she was abused by her foster family. She had a daughter of her own at 17 and soon sought life under the lights of Las Vegas, where she began a relationship with a man who abused her in every way.
Things were so bad she put everything she owned into storage and flew with her two children back home to Memphis. Why? She wasn’t sure. What she did know was that God was calling her, and she was ready to listen.
After arriving in Memphis, Clarice learned that her father abused her daughter. She had no money at this point and had lost everything she owned at the storage in Vegas. She had nowhere to go, but was told that if she was looking for God, she should go to Moriah House, Memphis Union Mission’s recovery program for women.
From the moment she arrived, Clarice dove deep into her faith, praying and crying out to God for help. He listened. And He blessed her.
Through all the heartbreaking trials, Clarice kept her faith, never backing away or doubting God. “I know the world is broken,” she says, “but at Moriah House, I am given a safe place to heal and be transformed. God took the mess of my life and blessed it.”
In just one year, because of God’s grace, Clarice went from broke, hurt and fragile to the courageous, God-fearing woman she is today. She graduated from Memphis Union Mission and has her own home, car and her own business. “I gave my problems to God,” she explains, “and He redeemed me.”
Clarice is beyond grateful to God for healing her and for your support during her time at Memphis Union Mission. “While I was at Moriah House, I was given everything I needed. I was coached, counseled and fed the Word of God. I look forward to following Him in all that I do.”
