Ralph was facing a harsh reality. He could keep living his life the way he was and end up with a hopeless future, or he could completely change everything he knew about life and possibly make something of himself.
Lying on a hard, cold floor and contemplating his life, Ralph cried out in desperation. “I talked to God,” he says. “I was at my absolute lowest, and I needed direction. God spoke to me, telling me it was time to change or I was going to crash.”
At that moment, Ralph got himself off the floor and committed to changing his life. He needed to get sober, but he had no money, no home, and no one to turn to for help. Then he remembered Memphis Union Mission.
“As soon as I thought of it, I knew it was where I needed to be. I went straight there and began changing my life from the first day!”
Never wavering from his commitment to change his life, Ralph began connecting with God. “The staff was so patient with me, helping me open up, heal, and change my habits. Life is bright and good now,” he says. “Every step I took closer to God, the more blessings I received!” Ralph continued to grow, becoming a new man in Christ.
Today, he is working, saving money, and preparing to have his own place. He attends church and gives talks to children who are heading down the same path he once was. “It’s so important to me that I give back to the community that helped me so much,” he explains. “My life was going to have a very dark story, but God had a plan for me, and now I am the person He wants me to be!”
Ralph is grateful and hopeful for his new life. “Because everything at Memphis Union Mission was free, I was able to transform my life. Your gifts helped save my life. I am healthy, reconnected with my family, and God continues to bless me. Thank you!”
