Legacy of Hope Campaign

Construction of Phase 1 of our new Opportunity Center will be complete (weather permitting) by the end of 2020!

This new facility will eventually replace our current emergency shelter, which has been overcrowded and functionally obsolete for some time.

The Opportunity Center will allow us to provide services that we’ve not been able to before because of lack of space. It will allow us to vastly improve our current services. And it will be a facility of which our community can be proud.

The last time Memphis Union Mission broke ground on a new facility in Downtown Memphis, John F. Kennedy was president and you could buy a hamburger for one dollar.

Times have changed since then. We face new challenges, and the demand for the Mission’s services has steadily increased. The new Opportunity Center will help us to better address the needs that our city faces today.

The facility is the result of a capital campaign – called the Legacy of Hope campaign – that was quietly launched two years ago. The campaign consists of three separate phases, which will allow us to continue to care for our guests during construction.

Fundraising for Phase I – which is the largest of all three phases – is close to being complete, thanks to local foundations, corporations, and individuals who contributed generously. Phases II and III are yet to come.

We’ve launched a web site that will help you stay informed about the project and all that it entails. To learn more about this exciting new project, and to help support the future of care in Memphis for those in need, visit www.LegacyofHopeMemphis.org.

Thank you, and God bless you!
